The inclusion of an ‘iPod’ in the iPad isn’t that much of a feature. It is basically software-based that is powered by iTunes. iTunes alike its MAC and PC counterparts lets users browse music collection by song, artist, album, genre and composer. What Apple claims to be different, is of course it’s a touch tablet, making you touch your music literally.
iPad as an iPod could be possible. Conventional iPod controls like play, pause, shuffle, change track and volume adjustments are of recognizable finger taps, again making you really touch your music. The portability like the iPod and iPhone has isn’t that much convenient for iPad for it is a bit larger than its little cousins hence making iPod and iPhone to be favored if music portability is the only focus.
Playing music on a portable stylish device is enjoyed almost by everyone. But what sets iPad from the old fashioned play-next play-skip players is that, iPod ported features with iTunes called Genius. iPod Genius is included on every iPad since it is built in on every iTunes app. It is a software-based application which automatically creates multiple mixes based on the most played and preferred playlists of a user. After loading music files to the iTunes Library, you can set Genius to intelligently identify your music types by tracking your most played music files. Genius then arranges it on a separate playlist, and plays it like your iPad is on Auto-DJ. What’s more about Genius is it finds your other tracks that are similar in sound and genre by just a single tap for a defined streamlined playlisting. Listening to music presents two traditional options: the use of loudspeakers, where the iPad has built-in mono speakers where you can rock out with a loud play. Noting that the speakers puff sounds only in mono, music listening isn’t that approving. On the other hand, if you are a private person who prefers private listening, either you use wired or Bluetooth wireless headphones so as making you own your music. But even if you use the most compact headphones you can find in the electronic market today, still it doesn’t change the fact that the output sound would still be monaural.
Because the iPad is touch controlled, songs can be interactively played with just a tap on the screen. While a particular music is playing, an album art graces the visuals. Cover flows and Cover Arts make music playing more animated. What it lacks though, is the iTunes Visualizer included on the MAC and PC iTunes. Album arts can be arranged at a vertical listing providing you the feature to view related information by the side texts, either you use cover flow, which lets you decide which music to play just by the covers. Additional album arts and other music related insignias can be purchased by directly switching to the iTunes store. These albums can be flipped like virtual CDs whenever you need to browse for music. It’s as natural as you are scanning through your precious CD collection.
iPod on this computer tablet is enough to be compared to the real iPod. Limitations are only with the size, portability-wise and the sound output, one-eared monaural sound makes iPod on iPad dull.
